The Indigenous Screen Office’s mission is to support and develop Indigenous screen storytellers and Indigenous stories on screens and increase representation of Indigenous peoples throughout the screen industries in Canada.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating administrative processes and communications for ISO funding programs.
- Support program design process, draft and revise program guidelines and copy edit materials for the website, applicant portal and announcements;
- Support program policy development, communication briefs and written materials;
- Suggest improvements or areas of development for ISO programs, processes and policy;
- Manage the applicant portal;
- Respond to inquiries from applicants;
- Coordinate applications and review eligibility criteria in preparation for jury process;
- Communicate with jury on invitations, scheduling, assessment materials, required documents and assessment process;
- Coordinate payments for jury members;
- Minute taking in assessment meetings, coordinate assessment spreadsheets to facilitate decision-making;
- Send out notifications and manage paperwork and payment processes for grants;
- Track final reporting and eligibility of applicants of ISO grants;
- Disseminate information to the public about ISO funding programs, eligibility, grant writing, processes and policies.
Skills and Experience
- Post-secondary education in a related field or a combination of comparable skills and experience.
- Experience in a cultural and/or not-for-profit sector;
- Minimum 1 year in a similar role supporting funding/grant programs;
- Experience working with Indigenous communities or an in-depth knowledge of Indigenous governance, administration and policy issues through lived or learned experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the mission and values of ISO;
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and be self-motivated in a high pressure and demanding work environment;
- High level of business administration skills, including Microsoft Office;
- Previous experience working with databases;
- Research, project management and problem-solving skills;
- Analytical, critical and strategic thinking skills;
- Proven ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment;
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse cultural groups and artists;
- Ability to work independently;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Exemplary attention to detail with excellent planning, organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to commit to personal growth, development, and leadership opportunities;
- Ability to take initiative to participate in a culture of learning, mentoring, and sharing;
- Ability to contribute to building and being a part of a positive culture;
- Fluency in French is considered an asset;
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required.
