Toronto and Ohsweken, September 27, 2024 – The Indigenous Screen Office (ISO) and the Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced a new partnership to bolster the ISO’s Interactive and Immersive Program. The CMF’s investment brings the program’s total budget to $900,000. Applicants that are eligible for both ISO and CMF support may now request up to $100,000 in development funding and $200,000 in production funding.
“ISO is looking forward to this new collaboration with the CMF to increase access for Indigenous creators in the digital, interactive and immersive space — an exciting growth area in the Indigenous screen sector,” said Kerry Swanson, CEO of ISO.
“As we continue to build our relationship with the ISO, additional funding for Indigenous creators active in the interactive digital media space is an important aspect of our partnership,” said CMF President and CEO Valerie Creighton. “The CMF is proud to support Indigenous storytelling, and I know our work with the ISO will concretely improve outcomes for Indigenous projects in the video game, extended reality, app, and immersive and/or interactive sectors.”
The ISO’s Interactive and Immersive Program provides funding support to Indigenous screen-based creators for the development and production of interactive and/or immersive projects. Applicants to this program may undertake project work in the development and production of high-calibre video games, AR/VR/MR works, apps, and immersive and/or interactive projects that include audiovisual content.
